There is no other place in New Zealand that hosts an event like Great LakeTaupo. The annual calendar of events include the International Ironman - New Zealand’s biggest one day annual event with competitors from 38 different countries - and The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, with over 11,000 riders completing the 160kms around Lake Taupo. The community support of these and other sporting events are second to none.

Beyond the athletics, other yearly events highlight arts and culture, food and wine and festive seasonal celebrations.
